RIFTBOUND LEGACY: A NEW CHAPTER FOR RUNETERRA
Garen, Lux, Ashe and Tryndamere are heading into Riftbound: Legacy, and the sixth set has plenty to interest players beyond its Champion line-up. Scheduled for 29 January 2027.
For League of Legends fans, the theme is an appealing one: Champions representing the regions they call home. For Riftbound players, Legacy also brings updated booster packs, a stronger focus on drafting and clearer card text. Here is what has been confirmed so far, plus the Legacy products available at The Card Vault.

LEGACY PRODUCTS AT THE CARD VAULT
Our current listings cover packs, boxes, a Vault and Champion Decks. Follow the product links for the latest price, ordering status and product details.
Open 24 packs with a Legacy Booster Box, or split a six-box Display Case with your playgroup for 144 packs in total! Get ready for draft nights, and the hunt for Showcase Legends and Battlefields.
The Legacy Vault box includes six Legacy booster packs, 36 basic runes and four full-art foil promo tokens in a reusable storage box. It is a smaller pack-opening option with useful deck-building extras and somewhere to keep them.
Tryndamere, Ashe, Garen and Lux each have a Champion Deck. Riot says the Set 6 decks are designed to work well together in 2v2 straight out of the box, making them an interesting starting point for a group learning together.
Our Legacy Champion Deck listing is for one assorted deck, rather than all four. The Champion Deck box includes a Legacy booster pack, paper playmat and folded deckbox alongside the deck. Check the listing before ordering if you have a particular Champion in mind.
This is a separate release scheduled for 19 February 2027, after Legacy. It features decks for Heimerdinger, Karma, Vladimir and Illaoi, plus shared play accessories. Riot has confirmed that its cards will also be obtainable from booster packs. It is worth keeping an eye on if you would prefer a boxed starting point for several players.
WHICH CHAMPIONS ARE IN LEGACY?
The announced Legends are Ashe, Garen, Heimerdinger, Illaoi, Karma, Lux, Tryndamere and Vladimir, with four more still to be named in Riot's set overview.
Legacy draws on Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover/Zaun, Freljord and Bilgewater. Riot is building those regional identities into the set's Champions and mechanics, and has also teased artwork inspired by League Classic. The full card list will give us a clearer picture of how those ideas play together.
BOOSTER PACK CHANGES
Legacy introduces a dedicated Legend or Battlefield slot in place of one Common. Packs will contain six Commons rather than seven, with the new slot split roughly evenly between Legends and Battlefields.
Each booster pack contains 14 cards
6 Commons
3 Uncommons
1 Battlefield or Legend
2 Rares or better
2 Runes or Tokens
Includes 1 Foil, & 1 insert slot
That is a useful change if you enjoy opening boosters. Legends remain accessible for building decks, but their standard versions move out of the slots that previously competed with other exciting pulls. Showcase Legends and Battlefields remain in the Overnumber slots; the new slot does not guarantee a Showcase card.
Riot describes Legacy as its first set designed specifically around a strong draft experience. The plans include lower-rarity cards that point players towards a strategy and synergies between Champions sharing a domain. Store Rune Kits will also gain a Minion unit that can help fill out a draft deck.
If you usually play a single constructed deck, draft offers a different challenge: choose cards as you go, work out what fits together and build with what you have picked. Legacy looks like a good set to watch if that side of the game appeals to you.
CLEARER CARD TEXT
Some changes are about making cards easier to read. Targets will receive a grey highlight, and a new arrow will separate a triggered ability's condition from its effect. Token-making effects will use “create”, while “when you play me” becomes “when I enter”.
These are worth knowing before your first Legacy game, particularly if you are familiar with older wording. GameSpot's explanation of the changes is a useful companion to Riot's announcement.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR LEGACY?
Legacy brings regional Champion synergies, a new booster format and a stronger focus on draft to Riftbound. There’s more to discover before its 29 January 2027 release, with the remaining Legends, full decklists and further card reveals still to come.
