BUILD YOUR SQUAD. TAKE THE BATTLE TO THE TABLETOP.
Your next Gundam build could be part of your next tabletop battle. Gundam Assemble brings miniature Mobile Suits to the gaming table, combining model building and painting with tactical battles between rival squads.
With our first wave expected at the end of October 2026, here is a look at the game, how it plays and where to start. Whether you already build Gunpla or are discovering Gundam through tabletop gaming, there is plenty to get stuck into.
UK release update: We expect our first wave at the end of October, but our exact UK release and arrival date is still to be confirmed. Please check individual listings for the latest estimates. Later products in the range have separate release windows.

WHERE SHOULD YOU START?
Starter Set 01 (ST01)
Our pick for your first game. Starter Set 01 contains the game components for 3 vs 3 battles and two introductory scenarios, giving you a clear place to learn before expanding your squad.
The six included miniatures are:
- RX-78-2 Gundam
- Char's Zaku II
- Wing Gundam Zero EW
- Gundam Epyon
- Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex
- Gundam Vidar
You also receive six Unit Cards, 18 Tactics Cards, two Scenario Objective Cards, a game map, cardboard terrain, game tokens, ten-sided dice, a handbook and two quick reference sheets.
That gives you a mix of familiar rivalries to build and a complete starting point for learning the game with another player.
EXPAND YOUR SQUAD
The first two expansion packs introduce units from Gundam Unicorn and The Witch from Mercury. Each contains three miniatures, three Unit Cards, nine Tactics Cards and game tokens. These are additions to your game collection; the Starter Set supplies the shared components for getting started.
Expansion Pack 01 (EX01)
Add Unicorn Gundam (Destroy Mode), Delta Plus and Torohachi to your collection. A natural next stop for Gundam Unicorn fans looking for more squad options.
Expansion Pack 02 (EX02)
Bring Gundam Aerial, Gundam Pharact and Darilbalde to the tabletop. This pack gives fans of The Witch from Mercury three recognisable units to build, paint and play.
WHAT IS GUNDAM ASSEMBLE?
Gundam Assemble is Bandai's tactical miniature battle game, featuring models approximately 5cm tall. Each unit has its own characteristics, represented by its Unit Card, while Tactics Cards provide additional options during play.
The appeal is being able to build a squad and see it in action. Scenarios draw on memorable Gundam conflicts, while other settings bring together units from different series for crossover battles. You can enjoy the models as a hobby project, then put your choices to the test on the battlefield.
The miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly. Painting gives you the option to recreate familiar colours or develop a scheme of your own. Painted promotional images show what can be achieved after building and finishing the models. Bandai lists the range for ages 15 and over.
HOW DO YOU PLAY?
The Starter Set introduces 3 vs 3 battles. A scenario sets up the battlefield and tells you what your squad needs to achieve. Here is the basic flow.
1. Set up your mission
Choose the scenario and prepare its map, terrain, objectives and units. Keep the corresponding Unit Cards nearby so you can check weapons and abilities during the game.
2. Follow the Timeline
The Timeline determines when units activate. Actions can have a Timeline cost, moving that unit's token along the track and affecting when it can act again. Timing matters alongside positioning: a powerful action can leave a unit waiting longer for its next opportunity.
3. Move and choose an action
Units move across a map divided into hexes, with terrain and other pieces affecting their routes. During an activation, a unit must take one Primary Action, such as Attack, Dash, Energize or Rescue. Command Abilities and Tactics Cards add further choices.
4. Resolve your attack
Select a weapon, pay its Timeline cost and check the target's range and line of sight. Roll attack dice according to the weapon's Strength, then resolve hits, damage and any relevant effects. The position you choose can be just as important as the weapon you use.
5. Play for the objective
Victory depends on the scenario. Defeating units, taking objectives and completing mission goals can contribute to your score. Keep the mission in mind when deciding whether to attack, reposition or support another unit.
This is an introduction to the main ideas. Use Bandai's official play guide and current rules for setup, timing and individual card interactions.
WHAT IS COMING AFTER THE FIRST WAVE?
Deluxe Set 01 (DX01) expands the game into larger 5 vs 5 battles, including battleships and scenarios inspired by the original stories. Bandai's updated schedule places DX01, Expansion Pack 03 and Expansion Pack 04 in November 2026, after the initial October products. Check our listings for UK availability.
CAN YOU USE GUNDAM CARD GAME ASSEMBLE SETS?
The two games have different rules, but their miniature ranges overlap. Gundam Card Game Assemble editions include genuine Gundam Assemble miniatures alongside their trading cards. The models can also be placed on the matching Token Cards when playing the Gundam Card Game.
For tabletop Assemble battles, use a miniature with its matching official Assemble Unit Card and rules. Check that these are available for the model you want to field. The trading cards supplied in a Card Game bundle do not replace Assemble's Unit Cards or Tactics Cards.
Other products to explore in our Gundam Assemble collection include:
-
Heroic Beginnings (ST01A), Wings of Advance (ST02A), Zeon's Rush (ST03A) and SEED Strike (ST04A): Gundam Card Game starter sets that each include three Assemble miniatures. Heroic Beginnings includes Gundam, Guncannon and Guntank.
-
Premium Collection Gundam Assemble Set - Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS (PC01A): includes Gundam Barbatos 4th Form, Graze Custom and CGS Mobile Worker miniatures, alongside 14 alternate-art Gundam Card Game cards and a bonus pack.
-
Premium Collection Gundam Assemble Set - Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (PC02A): another crossover option, with three Assemble miniatures alongside Gundam Card Game cards.
These sets give you more miniatures to build, paint and collect, especially if you enjoy both games. They do not contain the complete tabletop setup. Gundam Assemble Starter Set 01 (ST01) remains our recommended starting point for the maps, terrain, dice, cards and other components needed for your first Assemble battles.
